LRT Kelana Jaya Line

Services on the Kelana Jaya light rail transit (LRT) line were again disrupted earlier today, this time not by faulty brakes on trains but by signalling issues, The Star reports. RapidKL said a signalling issue occurred at the Sri Rampai LRT station in the morning and this had forced line operation to slow down.

The public transportation services provider said that while the tracks were working at the Setiawangsa station just before Sri Rampai, trains had to stop longer at platforms, further delaying travel time.

At 11.37 am, RapidKL made an update via Twitter that track works had been completed at the station and that the line was running at normal pace again. As a result of the delays in train scheduling, stations were reportedly packed with commuters waiting to utilise the service.

Yesterday, two separate brake-related incidents caused disruptions on the KJ line. The first - also at Setiawangsa station - caused many users to arrive late for work, while the second was far more serious; a fire broke out on a train near Universiti station, forcing the KJ line to halt services for close to half an hour until line operation was switched to an alternate track.
