It's like a mini motor show, with eight car brands, two motorcycle brands and one commercial vehicle brand all under one roof. We hear that there are good deals in store, and there's a lucky draw with a Proton Saga SV as the main prize, if you need extra motivation. We dropped by yesterday afternoon and found a 2014 Honda City at Honda's booth, publicly displayed in white for the first time. The MiTo QV's turbocharged 1.4 litre MultiAir " New post on Paul Tan's Automotive News 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde detailed by Jonathan James Tan The Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) edition of the 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo, which was previously announced for the UK, is heading to Geneva, and the Italian carmaker has released more details ahead of its show debut. The MiTo QV's turbocharged 1.4 litre MultiAir petrol engine channels 170 hp at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm at 2,500 rpm (Sport mode 250 Nm) to the front wheels through a six-speed Alfa TCT twin-dry clutch 'box. As a result, it does 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds before topping out just shy of 220 km/h. Combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are quoted at 5.4 litres per 100 km and 124 grams per km respectively - 10 and 11% better than the previous MiTo QV, Alfa says. The 2014 MiTo QV wears a roof spoiler, a sports rear bumper, 17-inch alloys, red Brembo brake callipers and QV logos on the front wings. The head and tail lamp frames, door mirror caps, door handles and front grille get a burnished look, while that body colour is an exclusive matte Magnesio Grey. No interior pictures yet, but Alfa says the black interior contains a new moulded leather steering wheel with contrasting white stitching, QV logos in the instrument panel, a carbon-look Competizione dash and special mats. Also black leather-wrapped are the handbrake lever (with white stitching), gear knob and gear boot (white and green stitching). The list of standard kit includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control and a five-inch Uconnect touch-screen with TomTom navigation. Sabelt seats with wrap-around carbon fibre backs can be specified. There will also be a QV Line pack for the Distinctive trim level - this will give you the sports rear bumper as well as all the burnished-look exterior and leather-wrapped interior items as above. Previewed by a number of concepts including the fourjoy, forst" New post on Paul Tan's Automotive News SPYSHOTS: smart fortwo – next-gen microcar spied by Jonathan Lee Spy photographers have caught on camera the third-generation smart fortwo, now sporting its full production body for the first time after the rather cut-and-shut jobs on the previous mules. Previewed by a number of concepts including the fourjoy, forstars and for-us, the new fortwo will feature styling that is a sleeker and more modern interpretation of the microcar we know and love, looking lower and wider than the current car. Peering through the camouflage, you can spot the new perforated smart family grille, a wide lower air intake and squarish head- and tail lights with LED daytime running lights on the lower edges of the headlights. Under the skin, the smart fortwo is based on the underpinnings of the just released Renault Twingo, and hence will keep its rear-engined, rear-wheel drive layout. It is also expected to share the French sibling's engine and gearbox, details of which have yet to be revealed. Rumours are, the fortwo will feature a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine in two tunes – 84 hp and 104 hp versions are said to be offered. There will also reportedly be an 87 hp (65 kW) Electric Drive model. Some reports have also suggested that the next fortwo could be even shorter than the current car, trimming about 10 mm off to a ridiculously short 2,680 mm. It is also set to spawn a four-seater forfour, which would be more closely related to the fortwo than the Mitsubishi Colt-based first-generation model. Both the fortwo and forfour are expected to arrive later this year, making their world debut at the Paris Motor Show. We're already familiar with the RC Coupe, of course; what's new here is the F Sport kit – Lexus' equivalent to BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz's respective M Sport, S-Line and AMG Sport ranges. On the new RC, the F Sport package offers visual and dynamic upgrades over the standard model. Unlike the F Sport kits on the IS and GS sedans, however, this one doesn't bring about new bumpers or side skirts, as the standard RC coupe looks aggressive enough as it is. What you do get, is an F-specific mesh grille design and unique double-layer 10-spoke 19-inch F Sport alloy wheels. Oh, and the all-important badge on the front fenders too, of course. Three exterior colours - White Nova, orange and Flame Blue – are also exclusive to this variant. The new colours can be matched to the F Sport-only Dark Rose upholstery and Wedge Metal interior trim. Also part of the 'look-faster' package are the Lexus LFA-style instrument cluster with moveable centre ring plus the F Sport steering wheel and gear knob. Underneath the fancy sheetmetal, the RC 350 F Sport gets a sharper suspension setup, with optional Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) systems. The latter incorporates dynamic rear-wheel steering to improve turn-in response, grip and agility when cornering. The RC 350 uses a 3.5 litre V6 that produces 314 hp and 380 Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. This isn't quite the full-blown BMW M4-chasing RC-F, but next to the 4 Series M Sport, this Lexus RC 350 F Sport will do just fine. That same black Melaka-assembled unit has since gone on a shopping mall roadshow circuit - done with the Klang Valley, it will be at the East Coast Mall this weekend. So it was a pleasant surprise to see a white-coloured 2014 City at Honda's DRB-Hicom Autofest booth. This is the first time we've seen the City in another colour other than black. At first glance, it looks similar to the black Grade E unit, with the same 15-inch wheels and 175/65 Goodyear GT3 tyres, but the differences show upon closer inspection. This white car's cabin lacks the previously seen push start button and steering audio controls. The trim surrounding the stereo is not in gloss black, and the dials lack chrome surrounds. Even the dial faces are different - this should be the standard meter panel, not the illuminated meter cluster. Click to enlarge It's obviously a step down from Grade E, so this car should be either a Grade S or S+. What we already know is that Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) will only equip the E and range-topping V grades, and that the full suite of six airbags and 16-inch rims are exclusive to the V. With today's sighting, we now have a clearer picture of the gulf between S/S+ and E grades. The DRB-Hicom Autofest 2014 will be running throughout the weekend at the EON Complex in Glenmarie, next to the DRB-Hicom headquarters. All DRB-related brands are there, including Proton, Lotus, Volkswagen, Audi, Honda, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, Modenas and Can-Am. It looks like the popular pickup truck is getting yet another facelift to keep it showroom fresh before the next-generation Triton arrives in the next year or two. What is clear to see is that, for the very first time in the ladder-frame duo's history, the Triton will share the same front-end with the recently-facelifted Pajero Sport. Curiously though, this "new-face" Triton has yet to be launched in any other markets, so either it's making its world debut here, or it's a special Malaysia-only update. You can compare the new and old looks in the picture below. Apart from the new bumper, grille and alloy wheels, the facelift also introduces projector headlamps to the Triton range. The rest of the car stays as it was before, though it looks like the wing mirror-mounted signal lamps and unique rear sports bar, previously exclusive to the Triton VGT, will filter down to standard models. It is yet unknown if the new look will be applied throughout Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia's extensive Triton range, including the Triton Heavy Duty, Single Cab and LITE Turbo. But as the car has already made its way to a showroom in Sarawak, it appears it won't be long till we find out. Most of the models will be derivatives a" New post on Paul Tan's Automotive News Hyundai to launch more than 20 new models by 2017 by Jonathan Lee Emboldened by its recent successes, Hyundai will press on with a new model offensive which will see the Korean manufacturer unveil 22 new models by 2017, according to the company's European boss Allan Rushforth. Most of the models will be derivatives and replacements of existing models (some of them in the picture gallery below), but about a third of them will be all-new, taking the brand to new territories. One of the most important of these cars will be the next-generation i20, which will compete in the fiercely competitive B-segment hatchback market. Larger both inside and out, the range will be bookended by models powered by the i10's 1.0 and 1.2 litre three-cylinder engines at the bottom end and a turbocharged N-badged hot hatch at the top. Also significant will be a new compact crossover designed to take the fight to the Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport and Honda Vezel. It will be based on the i20 and is expected to take styling cues from the Hyundai Intrado concept that will make its debut at Geneva. The crossover will replace the ix20 mini-MPV in the company's lineup. At the other end of the spectrum will be a right-hand drive version of the Genesis executive sedan, destined for the UK market in June. The car will undercut the competition in price but is only expected to sell dozens of units due to the sole engine option being a 3.8 litre V6 petrol, so it will be positioned as a showcase of Korean engineering instead. However, a diesel engine could be developed for the car if sales take off. This bold plan is part of Hyundai's push to become one of the world's top five car manufacturers by 2020. The company (without subsidiary Kia) currently stands at number eight, selling 4.7 million units last year.
