LDP users, take note. Damansara-Puchong Highway concessionaire Litrak has announced a three-month trial of a contraflow traffic system to ease traffic congestion along the busy highway. Aimed to ease traffic from Puchong, Putrajaya and Shah Alam towards Kelana Jaya, the trial will start on December 8, which is next Monday.
The contraflow lane will start at KM21 (Kelana Jaya-bound) of the LDP in Puchong (opposite HSBC, right after IOI Mall), with the exit at KM18. For light vehicles and Touch n Go users only, it will run on weekdays from 6.30am to 9.30am, excluding public holidays. Keep to the rightmost lane to enter the contraflow lane, which will take you pass the clogged stretch between Puchong Jaya and the Petaling Jaya Toll Plaza.
Having the contraflow lane means that Plaza A at the Petaling Jaya Toll Plaza in the opposite direction (from Sunway) will be closed. Motorists from Sunway to KESAS/Puchong can continue to use Plaza B during contraflow hours.
The new system is expected to benefit some 5,000 motorists during the morning rush hour, with estimated savings of 15 minutes on average for those heading to Kelana Jaya or Damansara.
"Litrak has already added bunting and signages along the highway to inform and guide highway users about the contra-flow. As with any new traffic scheme, there would be minor hiccups as road users will need a few days to get accustomed to the new system," Litrak CEO Sazally Saidi told The Star. Litrak's Highway Ronda team will be stationed at selected locations.
