The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been papped out and about again - we usually put on more layers in the cold, but the vehicle is undergoing winter testing here with barely a stitch on, exposing its curvaceous side profile and parabolic roofline for all to see.

For those of you in the dark, the GLE Coupe is essentially Stuttgart's upcoming rival to the BMW X6. The new nomenclature has renamed the ML to GLE, since the SUV is based on the E-Class. So this is a 'coupe' version of the ML, if you will.

According to our Euro spies, the prototype caught on film here carries the new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 from the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. The engine delivers 456 hp/600 Nm in the AMG GT and 503 hp/650 Nm in the AMG GT S.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is expected to turn up at the Detroit show in January - we wonder if the recently-announced AMG Sport line will too. See the GLE Coupe and AMG Sport line teaser here.
