This is Mercedes-Benz's latest AMG product, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG. First shown at the LA auto show late last year as a 'concept' car, the production version has now been unveiled, making it the most compact AMG SUV so far.
It's based on the same transverse engine front wheel drive architecture as A 45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG, with its 2.0 litre AMG-tuned engine producing 360 horsepower and 450Nm of torque, while consuming just 7.5 litres per 100km on the NEDC combined cycle.
Power goes to the wheels via the AMG 4MATIC all wheel drive system and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual clutch sports transmission. The 100km/h sprint is achieved in just 4.8 seconds, and it goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
The GLA 45 AMG already has a more aggressive stance over the regular GLA, but of course, there is an Edition 1,which adds on a larger front splitter, additional flics in the front apron, and a rear aerofoil.
There are silver grey/red AMG racing stripes on the vehicle sides, complemented by red highlights on radiator grille, exterior mirrors, diffuser insert and rear aerofoil.
The brake calipers are red painted too, and the multi-spoke AMG light alloy wheels are painted matte black with red rim flanges.
