We now have a frontal three-quarter shot as well as more details of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge concept ahead of its Detroit debut. Inspired by the technical collaboration between the Japanese premium carmaker and the Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 team, the Q50 Eau Rouge is lower and wider in the name of aerodynamics.
The bodykit's front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, roof and wing mirror casings are made out of carbon fibre, while 21-inch lightweight forged alloys, a twin-tailpipe sports exhaust system, twin bonnet louvres and an integrated rear spoiler contribute to the aggression.
The name should sound familiar to F1 fans – it's taken from a famous corner at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Eau Rouge-Raidillon section comprises a collection of bends with a blind crest, and is one of the track's most challenging corners, having seen some of the most incredible driving feats in F1 history. Eau Rouge (French for "red water") is the name of the stream the track crosses over.
"From our shared passion for performance with Infiniti Red Bull Racing grew a collective desire to produce a vision of what a high-performance Infiniti Q50 could look like," said design boss Alfonso Albaisa.
"The design has a number of distinctive Formula One inspired touches. In particular, the sculpted front wing assembly and the rear aerodynamic packaging take their cues from the RB9 race car." Could this be a crystal ball for a hot Q50 IPL (Infiniti Performance Line) in the future?
The Infiniti Q50 is set to arrive in Malaysia during the second quarter of 2014 with a Daimler-sourced 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo engine. See the compact exec on Infiniti's KLIMS13 stand here. It's one of our favourite cars, too - see paultan.org's Top Fives of 2013 here.
