Across the isle from Honda's stand, where the new BR-V is under the spotlight, Toyota has a different kind of "SUV" on show. Ok, it's not really an SUV, but more of a "Cross Yaris" that is yet to exist. Like the Yaris Legian Convertible you saw earlier, this Toyota Yaris Heykers concept is a creation of Toyota Astra Motor, the big T's local arm.
The five-door hatchback body of the Asian Yaris is evident, with the front and rear ends intact. But the body is raised and there's a set of roof rails for a rugged image.
Contributing greatly to the effect is black SUV-style cladding on the wheel arches as well as the front and rear. For the latter, strips connect the lower bumper to the lights. The lower edges of the bumpers are in sliver to mimic the look of sump guards. TRD wheels and LED DRLs complete the add-ons. The Heykers wears a two-tone lime green and white paint scheme.
VW has the CrossPolo and Hyundai has the i20 Active - Toyota Cross Yaris anyone?
