Honda-BR-V-Prototype

The hotly-awaited Honda BR-V Prototype has been unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015 in Jakarta. The seven-seat vehicle said to be a "new generation crossover utility vehicle" that combines the "appearance of an SUV and handling, utility and spacious cabin of an MPV."

It's powered by a 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine with 120 hp and 145 Nm of torque – the same motor found in the City and Jazz. Either an Earth Dreams CVT or a new six-speed manual gearbox can be had, at least in Indonesia when it goes on sale in early 2016. Prices there will range from 230 to 265 million rupiah (RM68k to RM78k).

Highlights of the vehicle include a high ground clearance (for typical Indonesian roads), prominent roof rails, wrap-around LED rear taillights and 16-inch wheels. A class-leading spacious cabin with rear air-con vents is claimed.

In Indonesia, the BR-V will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and a hill-start assist system. Isofix points are also mentioned. We'll bring you more live pictures from the show floor soon.
