This hot hatch is looking really good from the sound of it. After many leaks, followed by the official revealing last month, Peugeot has made public a series of video that showcases the 2016 Peugeot 308 GTi making good use of a set of country roads.

Developed by Peugeot Sport - the company's racing division - the one we see here comes with the distinctive "Coupe Franche" two-tone colour scheme that's thankfully, optional. Powered by the Prince 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, what you're seeing in all videos here is the beefier 270 hp variant - the base model gets 250 hp.

The growl that you hear from the exhaust system with double rounded tips sounds pretty aggressive. We sure hope that that's purely exhaust noise and not enhanced speaker notes, though. Either way, it still sounds pretty amazing when compared to the far quieter 208 GTi.

So folks, this, the Volkswagen Golf R or the Renault Megane RS 265 Cup?
