This is the new Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman. It is the ultimate S-Class, and can seat up to six in luxury, although the optimum is really only two people in the rear cabin for the ultimate in comfort.
It's codenamed the VV222. Considering the V222 is the long wheelbase S-Class, the doubling up of the letter V seems appropriate considering how much length has been added to this 6.5 metre car. We've already covered the technical details of the car in a previous post.
This is where the person that this opulent sedan is assigned to will sit. It's basically a huge living room. The proper rear benches that face forward are proper executive seats, while the rear-facing seats in the middle row are reserved for personnel like bodyguards or interpreters. When not in use, they can be folded up, as seen in the photo above.
Mercedes-Benz says they've adjusted the rear cabin so that the huge door sits in the middle of the two seats. This allows the people meant to sit in either seat to enter at any order they wish, instead of say, the interpreter entering first to get to the rear-facing seat and the bossman entering after him. Mercedes-Benz says this was specifically engineered to suit the requirements of protocol where royalty and head of states are required to enter before his entourage.
This is what you'll see if you're one of the few lucky ones to get this as your daily ride. Note the insane amount of legroom, curtain rails built into the windows, and ceiling-mounted air cond vents to complement the ones built in the center console.
Far in the distance, there's a screen that separates the rear cabin and the driver which can turn opaque for maximum privacy. Look up and you'll notice three dials - the middle one is a clock, the right one shows exterior ambient temperature, while the left one is a speedo so you'll know how fast the driver is going.
