Preceding its official debut at the upcoming 2015 Detroit motor show, BMW has revealed details and photos of the facelifted BMW M6 Coupe, the M6 Gran Coupe and the M6 Convertible. Physical changes are extremely minute with only detailed alterations to the front standing out at first glance.

New LED headlights coupled to a lower front apron boasting redesigned air intakes and a tenuously restyled kidney grille design complete most of the physical makeover. Along the sides, new 19-inch alloy wheels - 20-inch wheels on the M6 Gran Coupe - are featured as standard.

At the back, a mildly refreshed rear bumper replete with a diffuser, M-specific twin exhaust pipes and M6 badging on the boot lid round off the changes. The BMW M6 Coupe and Gran Coupe receive a contoured carbon roof which is said to help lower the car's centre of gravity.

Under the skin, modifications are extremely minimal with the cars utilising the same twin-turbocharged, 4.4 litre V8 engine. Combining direct injection, Double-VANOS and Valvetronic technology, the engine puts out 560 hp between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm with torque figures coming at 680 Nm from 1,500 to 5,750 rpm.

Sending all that power to the rear wheels is a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission (M DCT) with Drivelogic. As a result, the M6 Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe rockets from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds while the M6 Convertible completes the sprint in 4.3 seconds. Top speed for all three variants are limited to 250 km/h.

Additional features include a Low Speed Assistant system - basically a creep function found on most torque converter automatics - which functions up to a speed of 15 km/h. An Active M Differential is offered as standard while carbon ceramic brakes can be ordered as an option on all three variants.

Not many changes are to be found on the inside, either. The standout revision being the adoption of an iPhone-style central information display unit. Elements that further set it apart from its non-M siblings include a M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, exclusive M-specific gear selector and instrument cluster.

Individuals who are inclined to believe that 560 hp is just not enough can opt for the Competition Package on all M6 models which increases the power output to 575 hp and peak torque at 680 Nm from 1,500 to 6,000 rpm. The increase in power shaves off a noticeable one tenth of a second for the 0-100 km/h sprint time.

Along with the added firepower, the Competition Package also brings to the table a sports exhaust system finished in black chrome, 20-inch alloy wheels and a revised steering and suspension setup. Additional bonuses include new Jatoba metallic paint, Merino Aragon full-leather trim and a BMW M Laptimer app.
