A refreshed Mitsubishi Outlander is on its way, if the photos of a camouflaged prototype here are anything to go by with. With the third-generation Outlander having been introduced in 2012, it's probably a tad bit early for a facelift but that's never a bad thing.
With more camouflage being applied to the front and rear of the car, it's no surprise where the biggest change is set to take place. We can expect the front of the new Outlander to echo that found on the Mitsubishi PHEV Concept-S, which previewed a "special design package" for the production Outlander PHEV.
At the rear, the amount of camo could be hiding a redesigned tailgate with bolder, more rectangular lamps from the earlier mentioned concept - possibly without the huge, one-piece element. Unfortunately, no shots of the interior were procured but expect an updated outline with improved ergonomics and materials.
As for what lies under the hood, the current Outlander PHEV is powered by a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine - with 118 PS at 4,500 rpm and 186 Nm of torque - aided by a pair of electric motors, one at the front and the other at the rear.
