A microsite teasing the impending arrival of the Toyota Alphard has appeared on UMW Toyota's website. The Toyota Alphard is yet another MPV model that along with the Estima makes up the bread and butter of grey importers in Malaysia.

Both the 2.4 and 3.5 engine variants are teased on UMW Toyota's website. The two variants are called 2.4 G and 3.5 G, a much simpler offering to dissect and pick from than the different X, G, GL, and other variants offered by grey importers.

The 2.4 litre engine does 168 horsepower and 224Nm of torque, mated to a CVT gearbox with seven virtual ratios. The 3.5 litre engine makes 271 horsepower and 340Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed Super ECT automatic transmission. There are disc brakes all round, MacPherson struts with stabilizer at the front and torsion beam at the rear, and an EPS power steering system.

The UMW Toyota version of the Toyota Alphard has to be positioned above the Estima's RM258k price tag, so it is more feature packed compared to the Estima. Appropriate for an MPV where you transport your precious family along, standard safety features include VSC stability control, seven airbags, and ISOFIX points in the second row.

Standard features across the two models include a 7-seater combination leather seat configuration in 2-2-3, an 8 speaker sound system with a seven-inch touch screen that has a reverse camera, dual powered sliding doors, triple zone nanoe air conditioning, HID headlamps and rain sensors.

The driver seat is 8-way power adjustable, while the front passenger seat is 4-way adjustable with a powered Ottoman. The second row captain seats are power adjustable with powered Ottoman and multi-support headrests (grey importers call these Mickey Mouse headrests). The third row is split 50/50 with three headrests.

The 3.5 G model adds Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) to the HID headlamps so they turn with your steering direction, and a power boot instead of a manual operated one on the 2.4 G.

Of course, these are whatever specs that we can see on the microsite for now. It might change. There are also no indicative prices for now. The 2.4 G should be priced higher than the RM258k Estima 2.4 for sure. We think the 3.5 G will be priced close to its only competitor in the market, the RM399k Nissan Elgrand 3.5.
