ford figo concept 02

The Ford Figo Concept, which made its world debut in New Delhi yesterday ahead of the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, previews a new compact sedan that will not just serve India but globally as well, specifically targeted at emerging markets.

The sub-four-metre offering is closely related to the Ford Ka Concept that broke cover last November in Brazil - it's very much the booted form of the Ka, with some styling elements revised to meet the taste of Indian consumers. The front end remains largely unchanged, with the switch in foglamp design being the major difference.

The Figo Concept features electrically adjustable power-fold side mirrors with a 'flexible architecture' to prevent them from being broken off if bumped by another car or motorbike, and inside, the car comes with a device dock to store, mount and charge mobile devices and integrate them into the in-car entertainment system.

No technical details were released, but you can expect that engine options will be small and fuel efficient, like that for the South American Ka, possibly the 1.0 litre EcoBoost turbo and the normally-aspirated 1.5 Ti-VCT mills currently in service with the B-segment Ford Fiesta.
