The new Peugeot 308 made its debut as a five-door hatchback late last year, so a wagon version of the European C-segment mainstay is all but expected. This is it, the Peugeot 308 SW, set to debut at the Geneva show in March.
Carrying over the newfound simple lines and solid image of the 308, the Peugeot 308 SW is 4.58 metres long, 330 mm longer than the hatch. Boot capacity is claimed to be class-leading at 610 litres. Rear seats are folded with a single action from inside the boot and the floor is fully flat. Like its EMP2 modular platform hatch sibling, the 308 SW is 140 kg lighter than its predecessor.
Engine choices should mirror the hatch. The list includes a 1.2 VTi three-cylinder with 82 hp, a 1.2 e-THP turbocharged three-pot producing either 110 hp or 130 hp, and a 1.6 THP with 125 hp or 156 hp. Diesel engine options include a 1.6 HDi (92 hp or 115 hp) and a 150 hp 2.0 litre BlueHDi. The latter emits just 85 g/km of CO2, a new segment benchmark. The Peugeot 308 SW will try to win over European buyers looking at the Volkswagen Golf Variant and Ford Focus Estate starting this spring. Like what you see? Nasim sells the bigger 508 SW in Malaysia.
