Volvo Cars and owner Geely Holding Group have begun development of a global B-segment vehicle platform - the car will enter the market in three to four years, according to reports.
Design and development work is currently being undertaken at the R&D centre in Gothenburg that both companies opened last year. Back in September, Geely said the platform would be something both it and Volvo could use, though reports indicate that the planned subcompact is set to be utilised by Geely to compete against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris.
No other details are known about the project, save that German component suppplier Brose Group stated last week that it will be supplying parts for the car/s that Geely and Volvo are developing, and that the vehicles were destined to be introduced in Europe and China.
