You've seen the first images of the new sixth-generation Ford Mustang, which is set to be unveiled today simultaneously in six cities over four continents – the S550 will make its debut in Dearborn, Los Angeles, New York, Barcelona, Shanghai and Sydney.

The Sydney part of the global reveal is being broadcasted on Ford Australia's YouTube channel, with proceedings set to begin at 11pm Australian Eastern Daylight time (which is 8pm Malaysian time.

The new Mustang will go on sale in Q4 next year as a '2015 model year' car, a continuation of the legendary nameplate that first started in 1964. The new car is the Blue Oval's attempt to take its iconic pony car into the world market; the S550 will be available in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive forms.

Word is that Ford is planning to bring the Mustang to Malaysia, at the very earliest in 2015, which is when Australia will start selling it. The Oz market is due to get the 5.0 litre V8 and 2.3 litre EcoBoost variants, so it's looking like the 2.3 might be the mill that makes it here eventually.

Oh, Paul is in Sydney covering the Oz sector launch - try to see if you can spot him in the video!
