The Peugeot 2008 has been sighted at JPJ, and Anol Alias has served up these shots of a car with the covers half-removed in the car park. This one's wearing 16-inch six-spoke alloys (17-inch five-spoke alloys are also available globally) and is likely to be petrol-powered, since there's no HDi badging below the 2008 tailgate badge.

Although the new 1.2 litre e-THP three-cylinder engine (in 110 hp/205 Nm and 130 hp/230 Nm states of tune, with the 'e' denoting start/stop) will find its way under the bonnet of the Peugeot 2008 in the future, the engine will first do duty in the new Peugeot 308 - so that rules it out here.

Other petrol engines on the current global menu are a 82 hp/118 Nm 1.2 litre VTi three-cylinder and a 120 hp/160 Nm 1.6 litre VTi four-cylinder, but the former only comes with a five-speed manual. The JPJ car here is an automatic, so our guess is it's powered by the bigger VTi - the same engine that powers our 208.

At 4,160 mm long, 1,740 mm wide and 1,550 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,540 mm, the crossover is 96 mm taller and 200 mm longer than the 208 supermini on which it's based, with a 25-mm higher ground clearance.
