We've seen plenty of spyshots of the upcoming Porsche Macan before, but the test mules have always been heavily dressed up with big brother Cayenne-like coveralls. These official teaser images released by Porsche itself, ahead of the Macan's scheduled debut at the LA Auto Show next month, give us a peek at the baby SUV's sleek looks.
As expected, the Macan will ape the Cayenne in appearance, albeit with proportions that are much lower and sportier. The third image below shows the SUV's unique four-point LED DRLs that have so far been reserved for top-end Porsche models. Meanwhile, the taillights have a slim profile, similar to that of the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept.
No official word on the Macan's technical details yet, but expect the compact SUV to feature a range of turbocharged four-cylinder and V6 engines in both petrol and diesel flavours. Built on a shared platform with the next-generation Audi Q5, power will be sent to all four wheels through Porsche's own double-clutch PDK transmission.
If you're wondering about the name, apparently it's derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, though its pronunciation has been Westernised. With a rumoured near-400 hp power output for the range-topping Turbo, the Macan will eat most non-Porsches for breakfast. Macan, eat, get it? Oh nevermind.
