Following teaser sketches released last month, the born-again Audi Sport Quattro Concept has come out in the open, less than a week ahead of its Frankfurt show premiere. It's the sequel to the 2010 Paris show-debuting Audi Quattro Concept, which had a 408 hp 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine.
The muscular coupe sees a 560 hp/700 Nm twin-turbocharged 4.0 TFSI V8 collaborating with a 150 hp/400 Nm electric motor (fed by a rear-mounted, liquid-cooled 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery) to develop a combined 700 hp and 800 Nm of torque.
Bring an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox into the equation and the 1.85-tonne vehicle gets from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, maxing out at an impressive 305 km/h. Ingolstadt says it can do 50 km on electricity alone, and with the help of start-stop and cylinder-on-demand systems, average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are respectively claimed at 2.5 litres per 100 km and 59 grams per km.
Measuring 4,602 mm long, 1,964 mm wide and 1,386 mm tall, the Audi Sport Quattro Concept sits on a 2,784 wheelbase and 21-inch alloys wrapped in 285/30 rubber. There's 300 litres of luggage space, too.
