The widow-maker is back. Caught testing on the Nurburgring, almost undisguised, is the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 of the current 991 generation.
Looking rather similar to the naturally-aspirated GT3, the GT2 packs an aggressive-looking front bumper, flared front wheelarches and wide rear haunches incorporating the signature air intakes from the 911 Turbo. Round the back, there are central twin tailpipes and a huge rear wing.
Reports suggest that the Porsche 911 GT2 will likely draw around 560 hp and 700 Nm of torque from a turbocharged 3.8 litre flat-six. The previous car was twin-blown; will this be, too?
A seven-speed twin-clutch PDK 'box should be the order of the day, making it the first GT2 in history not to come with a self-shifter (same story with the current GT3 and Turbo).
We're looking at a 0-100 km/h time of under three seconds and a top speed in excess of 320 km/h, so this seems set to be the fastest production 911 to date when it debuts next year.
