If you thought the idea of a Range Rover Sport hooning up Pikes Peak was strange, try this. No, we're not joking - and neither is Honda. IndyCar racer Simon Pagenaud is set to make his Race of the Clouds debut later this month with a highly-modified Honda Odyssey!

Originally developed for competition by associates at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, the hot MPV will pack a Garrett GT35R-turbocharged 3.5 litre V6 with an impressive 532 hp and 624 Nm of torque, mated to the six-speed gearbox and LSD from the Acura TL.

Keeping the 1.5 tonnes in check are four-piston Brembos with aluminium callipers. There're also 19-inch BBS wheels wrapped in 295/30 series rubber and H&R springs and dampers.

"Our entry will be unique, to say the least!" said Pagenaud. "A Honda Odyssey with power similar to an IndyCar will raise some eyebrows for sure!"

The Honda Odyssey racer will be entered in the Exhibition Class, along with a CR-Z piloted by Sage Marie. Altogether, Honda is bringing 11 vehicles to Pikes Peak, including a first-gen Acura NSX (Open Class), Acura TL SH-AWD (Time Attack Class), Honda Fit EV (EV Class), five motorcycles and an ATV.
