Here's the first official confirmation of the Volvo V40's impending local launch, courtesy of Volvo Car Malaysia's long-standing dealer, Federal Auto's public teaser of the new model at The Curve last weekend. Yup, our stroll there after the Proton Saga SV launch nearby sure proved fruitful.

Regular readers would have seen this coming, as we've already featured spy shots of the Volvo V40 Cross Country on local soil last month. Our sources say it will be introduced in August (though some suggest a July launch) in locally-assembled (CKD) form.

Federal Auto only teased the Cross Country variant of Volvo's new family hatchback – in top-spec T5 AWD guise, no less - though we predict that the base V40 models will be represented here too, pitched as a premium alternative to the Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI. Now that's a competition we can't wait to see.
