Alongside the facelift A6 range which was unveiled recently, the updated Audi S6 and RS6 Avant high performance models were also introduced. No surprises on the visual front, with both models receiving the same aesthetic enhancements as the standard versions. The fancy Matrix LED headlights and nicely detailed taillamps are all present here too. Likewise, the interior receives the same extensive updates available on the lesser models, from the new LTE-enabled, Nvidia Tegra 30-equipped MMI navigation plus with MMI touch system to the new night vision assistant function.
Where it differs from the rest of the range is, of course, the performance. The S6 and its Avant sibling are both powered by an updated 4.0 litre biturbo V8, now making 30 hp more than before at 450 hp - the same state of tune found in the latest Audi S7. As a result, the sedan powers its way from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds while the Avant stops the clock in 4.6 seconds. Average fuel consumption is rated at 9.2 litres per 100 kilometres, thanks in part to the cylinder on demand (COD) system, which shuts half of the eight cylinders under light throttle loads.
Standard equipment on the Audi S6 and S6 Avant includes the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and adaptive air suspension - capable of lowering the car by 20 millimetres. Wheel sizes are 19-inches with matte black brake callipers.
Finally, the top-of-the-range Audi RS6 Avant comes with the same 4.0 litre TFSI V8, but this time producing 560 hp - the same as before. The 0-100 km/h sprint gets dispatched in 3.9 seconds. Transmission wise, the RS6 Avant comes with an eight-speed tiptronic which sends the power to all four wheels via the quattro all-wheel drive system. Standard suspension is the RS adaptive air suspension which lowers the body by 20 millimetres. As an option, an RS sport suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) is offered. The wheels measure in at 20 inches, with 21-inch options being offered.
