The MINI Countryman has just received its mid-life facelift earlier this year, but the next generation model is already being worked on. It will be built on BMW's UKL1 front wheel drive platform, which will be shared with models like the next generation X1.
With the MINI hatch now having a five-door model and the MINI Clubman moving towards a wagon type of body, there's room for MINI to take the new Countryman towards more SUV-like styling, with more aggressive offroader styling and higher ground clearance.
This prototype actually looks very much like the current Countryman, so this might not be the final body. The rear end has prototype lights on, and we also notice the number plate is positioned on the rear hatch of the prototype, while the current generation Countryman has its plates on the bumper.
MINI Malaysia recently launched a RM189k MINI Countryman 55 Edition. Check out the MINI Countryman page on CarBase.my for full specs, prices and image galleries of all the MINI Countryman variants available for sale here in Malaysia.
