Shell Lubricants has introduced its new Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic motor oil in Malaysia – the API SN-rated 5W-40 viscosity flagship oil has now been enhanced, combining Shell PurePlus Technology with the company's proprietary Active Cleansing Technology.
The new Helix Ultra formulation (the previous formula is on the left, in the above pix) features new synthetic base oils, which has been developed in an entirely new way compared to how traditional Group II hydrocracked and Group III isohydromerisation-based oils are made.
The company says a breakthrough process converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil, with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil, and the resultant Shell PurePlus Technology oil promises enhanced viscosity, friction and volatility performance. In addition to enhanced cleansing, the new Helix Ultra provides superior wear and corrosion protection.
Alongside this introduction, the entire Shell Helix core portfolio has also been restructured to help drivers more easily identify which is the best lubricant for their vehicle – the range of multi-fuel passenger car motor oils span the Helix HX3 20W-50 and HX5 10W-30 and 15W-40 mineral oils to the HX7 5W-30 and 10W-40 semi-synthetic oils, with the Helix Ultra sitting at the top of the pile.
In conjunction with the introduction of the enhanced Shell Helix portfolio, Shell Lubricants also launched the 2014 Shell Helix The Ultimate Ferrari Experience global promotion.
The two-tier contest, which runs from April 1 to June 30, is open to customers who purchase a four-litre pack of Shell Helix Ultra or any product from the HX7 range.
Tier One of the contest offers 10 first prizes of RM1,500 cash each, 10 second prizes of RM1,000 cash and 10 tird prizes of RM500 cash each.The 10 first prizes winners in Tier One will have the opportunity to compete in a special go-kart challenge in Tier Two to be among the five Grand Prize winners.
The lucky five will join winners from around the world for a five-day four-night all-expense VIP trip to Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, to watch the 2014 Belgian Formula One Grand Prix. There, they will have access to the Shell hospitality suite, spend time with the Scuderia Ferrari team and enjoy a behind-the-scene paddock tour.
